Dude, give it some time! I've been practicing for 6 years and I still zone out and lose my focus. It's normal.

I have been practicing for about 9 months now and I wanted to quit the first month. But I have to say that after a knee injury, and some physical therapy, I
jumped back in carefully and I know it was yoga that strengthened my knee. My therapists wanted me to keep going back to therapy, but I dropped it, kept up
with the yoga and completely healed. As for losing focus, that is normal. The best thing to do is less focus, in other words, free your mind. Feel each asana
to the fullest and be aware of your body, don't try to go anywhere but where you are. It becomes easier with time. Make sense?

try to focus on your breath
did you learn already the ujaai breath and the bandhas? fine, that's half of the way but the easiest part, the most difficult half is going to be to learn to listen to your breath and to make it sing I quote David Swenson: "Yoga is not about form or achievement of various levels of asana. Ashtanga yoga is about synchronicity, about combining the breath, the movement, the bandhas (energy locks) and the drishti (gaze) doing all at once while maintaining a calm focus that frees the mind to go beyond the asana into a deeper awareness of the moment. If you have a perfect-looking pose but can't maintain focus and carry it into the rest of your life, it's not yoga."
