Finally nailed it! 21 breaths, not touching the wall once. Never thought I'd get there. I'm hoping to increase by one breath per day and every 5 days
move an inch further away. Today was the first time I've not felt the wall at all.

Woo hoo I just got Pasana. | ||

After a few months of negotiating with myself towards coming up to standing after dropping back, last week I finally began to feel that there was some
consistency to it and was getting less and less help (or rescues) during my 3 attempts. Then this morning, I finally got the authoritative whisper in my ear,
right after Setu Bandasana..."Pasasana".
Actually, I don't know whether to say "whoo hoo" or "uh oh" because it is ruddy hard but, after 7 years of plugging away at the primary series, it personally felt like I had got myself my very own Oscar. I think I'm going to have a silly grin on my face for most of today.

Amie, the pointers that made a difference in my case, though they have probably been stated elsewhere, were i) "head back" ii) "squeeze your
thighs as you come up" and obvioulsy iii) "Walk your hands in as far as possible, while staying with your breath" and finally "rock 3 times
on the breath propelling the hips forward and taking off through the finger tips on the third inhale".
I also really, really tried to work deeply in setu bandasana and urdhva danurasana once I could drop back, which I am sure contributed a lot to my progress. Keep trying! |

The board may be moribund, but where else can you say:
First wrist bind in Marichy C (left side) this morning! I've been putzing around with Ashtanga for a few years but just started practicing 5 days a week in July. It really makes a difference (duh!). Now I wonder how consistent the Marichy C bind will be and how long before I can bind on the right side... |

Hi all, I have a question about hip opening. Which are the best poses in primary series for opening hips? I want to repeat these poses while I am reading, etc.
so that I hope to speed up the process of opening my hips. They take long time to open. Is this normal? Thanks
