I'm thinking of taking Nancy Gilgoff's two weeks retreat in Goa in late January, at Purple Valley. If anyone has been to this in the past, or studied
with Nancy or at Purple Valley and wouldn't mind sharing their experiences, I'd be extremely happy. Thanks.

I cannot overemphasize how wonderful Nancy is. There is a great flow of energy coming from her. Not much focus on alignment, which I personally like. More on
drishti and bandhas. Almost no talking during mysore class which helps with concentration. My personal experience tells me that more talking-->more
fidgetting. She teaches the old Advanced A which is extremely challenging. As opposed to many certified/authorized teachers that I know, she does not wait for
an asana to be perfected in oder to add on postures.Much more interested in the flow of the practice. Knows how to transmit energy through her adjustments.
Very nice person too. Ok, I'll stop bragging about her.

I have been to Purple Valley once for the Sharath retreat. It is a great place. Excellent food and a nice pool. Many advanced students, at least for Sharath.
My only complaint is that the taxis to the beaches and other places were more expensive than I would have thought. I mostly stayed at the place, but one place
I can recommend is the ayurvedic doctor and ayurvedic treatments close to the church in the nearest village. Very good prices for shirodara, oil massages,
steam box and so on.

So far it sounds great! I have absolutely no intention to start Advanced A any time soon, so that's a moot point for me, but I like the emphasis on breath
and dristhi. It really is what it comes down to. Lavazza64, do you think it might be worth then renting a scooter, or is that something people don't do?
(my only Indian experience has been in Mysore so far). Also, do you get harrassed (by vendors etc) at the beach? If I go, it will mostly be for relaxation
(I've even promised to myself I wouldn't take my laptop) so I'd be happy to hang by the pool if it's easier.

Of course, you can rent a scooter. A lot of people did. Electronic devices are not allowed in the dining/lounging area. Something that I really appreciated.
There are two computers indoors that you can use for free 30 minutes per day. Well naturally you get harassed at the beach and even more at the weekly market
which everybody goes to for some reason. There are some cool bars at the beach close to the market. There is also a cool place with a French name (that I
can't remember) at a beach that is quite far away. I guess there will be some people there who already know the area.
