Need advice on teacher

I met Guruji and Saraswathi in Feb 2008. Guruji even offered me a cup of Coffee. I am an Indian and this is what I was told: (She interjected Guruji IMHO)

She metioned that seperate classes are held for Indians and seperate for foreigners. (Evening for Indian's and morning batches for Foreigners)

Since I am quitting my work to seriously pursue Yoga (I am also undergoing a 6 week certificate course from Kaivalyadham) I wanted the opinion of seasoned visitors to Mysore....

... inexorably pulled back to Mysore in spite of your fiscal (ill) health, where would you stay? Eat? Etc. It's not that I enjoy being a cheap bum, its just the only way I'll get it done... and yes, I've already bought airfare!!!!

I'm planning on going to Mysore for the first time in early 2009, does anyone know if the institute will be open during this time? How likely is it that the shala will be over-booked? I'm worried I'm going to spend all this money on a plane ticket and then not be able to practice. Any info. is greatly appreciated!

Sharath to take a couple of years off

So, according to my friend who heard it from a friend who is/was in Mysore, Sharath recently announced that he intends to take a couple of years off (from the end of 2009?) to concentrate in his own practice.

Can anyone that is/was in Mysore confirm? If this was an announcement, surely it's not a secret. Come on, people, let's all share the knowledge and help others who might be planning their future trips. It's nice to have friends who heard, or teachers who know, but...

Pregnancy/Mysore

So I'm wondering. I've been to Mysore 4 times and now I am pregnant. I am so confused about if I should go to India or not. The yoga does not worry me but the food and if I would get sick. I would feel very selfish if would get ill and risk the baby. Is there anybody here of you ladies that have been practising in Mysore while being pregnant? I would love get some advise and hear about your experiences.

When I went to Mysore I used the ICICI atm all the time to exchange money. On my return home I was very disturbed to find that the exchange rate had been -to say the least -unfavorable and that they had charged $5 per transaction (in addition to my own bank's fees). This was all without the notice that I am use to in the USA (the ATM will say "this will cost x dollars, do you want to continue?" My trip to India cost ALOT more than I expected. Hey there I've been thinking about going to India Mysore to practice at the yoga institue of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to deepen my practice. I checked out the website but doesnt seem to be much there about what exactly goes on. Does anyone know what exactly goes on there? What would you daily schedule be? Are you practicing yoga all day or is there a theory component to it as well? Would it be suitable for beginners?
