Hi, I was just interested in knowing if any of you take supplements that might benefit our Ashtanga practice and lifestyle. I recently started taking some joint supplements because I feel that our joints get a lot of use in Ashtanga and need to be taken care of. I personally, am not a huge fan of supplements and this is a first for me. But i try to stay open to new ideas and advice from everyone.

As a curious beginner, some time ago, I discovered that there actually are quite a few rules on how to behave in a yoga shala - even though it basically boils down to use common sense and learn the yamas and niyamas, and thus in short:

• don't do asanas on a full stomach, or with a fever (or on full/new moon)
• be clean (you and your clothes & mat) and barefoot
• be on time, turn off your cell phone, and be quiet

ashtanga near North Beach, San Francisco?

Before the board freezes , I was wondering if anyone can advise on a good place to practice during my visit to SF. I will be staying in North Beach, without a car. I looked up GreenPath yoga and Mission Ashtanga, but these seem to be 40 min away by bus ride. Might there be a smaller studio closer by?

Well, we're just over a week away from the Big Freeze ("Shut it down, Shut it down now forever" - Mr Book).

My thoughts turn to the many interesting topics that have been discussed on this board and wonder what threads everyone remembers.

So traffic has dwindled to almost nothing around and frankly, I'm a bit tired of doing housekeeping. I log in daily, only to keep deleting spam of the most obvious and not so obvious ("I love your post, by the way I got a lot of good info from this fantastic yoga shop") kind. I don't want to do it anymore but I hate the thought of this board being a free-for-all wasteland when the archives contain lots of good information that can still be looked up.

It seems like there was great activity earlier this decade, but then it tapered off to almost nothing. Did I miss the big ashtanga wave and it's since become no longer cool, or did something else happen I'm not aware of? I keep hearing that the shala is full in Mysore etc. so maybe it's just that posting on this board isn't cool and the real ashtangis hang out online somewhere else?

I'm a student from Stockholm, Sweden who has been practising Ashtanga yoga for four years. In August I'm going for a one year internship in Kuala Lumpur and I wonder if anyone knows an ashtanga teacher who gives Mysore classes in KL.

Because of a trauma I experienced a few months ago, I may have to have an amputation, mid calf down. I have been practicing ashtanga for years and want to keep practicing. Does anyone know of an ashtangi with an amputation who has been able to keep practicing? Looking for peer support. Thanks for any info, E
